Opal Rainforest XI makes great baby blanket

I love the versatility of sock yarn and think it is perfect for making baby clothes and blankets. The colours change as if by magic and the finished items make unique gifts for cherished babies.

My current work in progress is a mitred square baby blanket knitted in Opal Rainforest XI, shade 8973.

I think the colours gives this blanket a Morrocan vibe which would brighten up any cot or buggy. It’s great fun to knit too and, as stitches are picked up for each square, there’s no sewing up!!

I’m knitting with Knitpro’s new Zing needles – these are light aluminium needles and each size is a different shade. The needles are very smooth and I’m really enjoying knitting with them. As an added bonus, the 3.25mm needles are turquoise so match the wool perfectly. Maybe this could be a new theme going forward? The 4.00mm needles are blue so that might influence my next DK project.
