Counting down to Christmas

I’ve loved Advent Calendars ever since I was a child. In the early days, each door opened to reveal a little picture on a Christmas-related theme. Then someone had the wonderful idea of including chocolates to add a daily treat to the thrill of opening another little cardboard door. You can now get all sorts of different advent calendars including ones containing pet treats. I’m rather ashamed to say that last year I bought one each for my cats and dog who, needless to say, were totally under-whelmed by the whole thing!!

This year, Opal have gone one better and have produced an Advent Calendar containing wool!!

Behind each door in this lovely box are twenty four 15g balls of sock yarn. The yarns are all 4ply weight with a variety of colours and patterns so just imagine the hours of pleasure deciding on projects and then knitting or crocheting the results. This is a fun way to countdown to Christmas and the yarn is a fantastic addition to any stash. The calendar costs £45 and stocks are limited so don’t delay. If you need some inspiration the yarns would look great in some stripey socks like these:
