Spring weather in the UK can be very unpredictable so I’ve finished this poncho just in time. It’s a great garment for days like today when it feels too warm for a coat but there’s a definite nip in the air when the sun goes in. It has taken me about three weeks from start to finish but I have been working on other projects at the same time as this was a bit too bulky to be easily portable!
The poncho is knitted in Stylecraft Carnival Chunky, shade 2490 Cadiz, and the medium size shown here took 9 balls so cost £42.75 to make. The yarn is 100% premium acrylic and feels incredibly soft. It’s knitted in one piece, starting at the front edge so I used a circular needle to accommodate all the stitches. I picked up stitches for the ribbed side edges which gives a neat finish. The cowl neck is knitted separately and then sewn on.
