My treat to me at Christmas is to choose a special project to knit over the festive break. It needs to be something that’s simple enough to knit in front of the TV but also with sufficient colour or texture to keep my interest. Last year I knitted this Noro tunic in two shades of Kureyon – a deceptively simple, slip-stitch design that really brings out the vibrancy of the colours:
I’m sticking with bold colours for this year’s project and have decided to knit the Hue Shift Afghan designed by Kerin Dimeler-Lawrence.
This blanket is knitted in mitred squares and makes very clever use of twelve colours. You can find the pattern at http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/hue-shift-afghan
I’m going to make mine in Stylecraft Special DK. The colours I have chosen are: Lobelia, Empire, Duck Egg, Pistachio, Sunshine, Gold, Spice, Lipstick, Pomegranate, Emperor and Black and I can’t wait to get started.
I’ll update you on progress in the New Year.
Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year – may your days be merry and bright and may all your projects be right x
