Just enough Karisma

A friend asked me to knit this lovely vintage-style headband. The pattern called for DK yarn and my friend wanted it in dark red so I chose Drops Karisma, shade 48 Wine Red. This gorgeous yarn is 100% suoerwash wool and costs only £2 for 50g.

It was an easy knit – the main band and front tab are knitted in moss stitch and the flower is in stocking stitch. The pattern said that it required 50g of DK yarn and I had just enough – the small amount of yarn in the picture is all that was left at the end! At one point I thought I might have to break into another ball to finish it and so started knitting faster.  I really don’t know why my brain thinks this will help – maybe it assumes that I can finish the piece before the yarn notices that there isn’t enough?? Anyway, whilst there is no logic to my approach it did mean  that the headband was finished in double-quick time and my friend is delighted with it. I must say that I’m really pleased with it too so may knit more in different colours – at least I’ll know there’s enough yarn in one ball…..
