I hate to introduce the ‘C’ word so early in the year but Christmas is coming and, love them or loath them, Christmas jumpers are still very popular.
The UK Hand Knitting Association (UKHKA) have had an exciting request for help from Kirstie Allsopp’s production team that may inspire you to get those needles clicking sooner rather than later. Raise The Roof Productions is running a Christmas jumper competition as part of Channel 4’s Christmas craft series with Kirstie Allsopp.
The competition is open to men and women over the age of 16. If you’ve hand-knitted a Christmas jumper that you’re immensely proud of, or you intend to (there’s still time), the programme would love to hear from you – and your jumper could feature in the series. To apply to enter please contact Raise the Roof Productions ASAP: Call 07725221140 or email Christmas2015@
If you’re looking for inspiration for the design of your jumper, I’ve got the perfect book. ‘Novelty Knits’ by Gyles Brandreth and his daughter, Saethryd. The book features 35 fabulous jumper designs featuring snowmen, Santa, reindeer and a Christmas tree. Of course, novelty sweaters aren’t just for Christmas so other designs include a golfer, a show-jumper, a skeleton and even a banana!! The book is a softback and costs £8.95. Happy knitting!!
